How Veritas Legal cut contract turnaround time by 41%
A four-attorney team used Documatch on every counter-party redline for one quarter. Here's the data.
Veritas Legal is a four-attorney boutique focused on commercial contracts and vendor paper. Before Documatch, counter-party MSAs followed a familiar loop: receive PDF, mark up in Word, paste clauses into ChatGPT for language suggestions, paste back, lose numbering, fix formatting, send to partner.
The experiment
For Q4 2025, every inbound redline — 23 MSAs and 11 SOWs — went through Documatch. Associates imported DOCX or PDF, scoped AI edits to flagged sections, and partners reviewed hunks before export.
Results
- Median time from receipt to client-ready markup: 4.2 hours → 2.5 hours (−41%).
- Formatting rework tickets to IT/downstream Word support: zero (previously ~2 per month).
- Partner reject rate on associate drafts: down 28% — block review caught issues earlier.
- No silent clause changes; every AI edit has an accept/reject audit trail via version checkpoints.
What didn't change
Veritas still does not auto-send AI language to clients. Partners accept hunks; associates do not. The tool shortened mechanical work — defined-term harmonization, cap consistency, passive-voice cleanup — not professional judgment.
"We didn't hire less brainpower," said their GC. "We stopped paying senior people to fix list numbering at 11 p.m."
